OVERVIEW
This guide is intended to assist team captains and players in ensuring leagues run as smoothly as possible. It contains important information that all league players are expected to understand and follow. Most disputes and problems occur because of misunderstandings of league rules and policies. By having a clear understanding of the rules, policies, and procedures, the league will run more smoothly and players will be able to enjoy the game of darts.
League rules can be found at bargames1.com and are also available upon request.
SPORTSMANSHIP & CODE OF CONDUCT
Sportsmanship and fair play should always be in every player’s best interest. By following the rules and procedures outlined in this guide, all players and teams will help ensure a fun and enjoyable season. Players should always remember that we are here to have fun and promote the game of darts.
We are guests in any establishment where we play darts. Please treat the location, staff, and other patrons with the same respect you would expect from guests in your own home. All waitstaff and bartenders must be treated with dignity and respect. Rudeness or improper conduct will not be tolerated and will be dealt with promptly.
Any player who is kicked out or banned from an establishment during a dart league match or tournament, whether it is associated with Redline or another vendor, will be immediately suspended for six months and placed on one year of probation. Additional penalties may be applied depending on the situation.
All players are expected to show good sportsmanship and respect for one another. This applies whether the match is played remotely or in person, and includes conduct before, during, and after league matches.
Harassment or threats from players or spectators will not be tolerated. Any spectator harassing players will be asked to leave the league area. If the behavior continues, they will be asked to leave the establishment or tournament venue entirely. Physical violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any player involved in such actions will be immediately suspended from all Redline leagues, both remote and in-person.
Any player removed from a tournament, regardless of location, may face suspension. Each situation will be reviewed individually. Any team or player removed from the IOMA State Dart Tournament will receive a minimum suspension of one year, with the possibility of additional penalties.
If a team reports unsportsmanlike conduct, the issue will be addressed and the team involved will be spoken to. The first incident will result in a verbal warning. If another incident occurs after the warning, the player will be suspended for six months from all Redline leagues and placed on one year of probation. If any infraction occurs during the probation period, the player will be suspended for one year from all Redline leagues and tournaments played on any Redline board, even if the league is operated by another vendor, and placed on two years of probation. Any infraction during that two-year probation period will result in indefinite suspension.
All suspensions will be reviewed by the dart board and league coordinators. All decisions are final.
SANCTION FEES
All Redline leagues, whether remote or in person, require every player to be NDA sanctioned. This includes all substitute players. The NDA sanction fee is $15.00 and will be deducted from the player’s first league payout after September 1st. Each player pays this fee only once per sanctioning year.
The sanctioning year runs from September 1st through August 31st. Players are responsible for informing the League Coordinator if they have already been sanctioned through another vendor. If this is not communicated before league payouts are calculated, the $15.00 sanction fee will still be deducted.
SCHEDULING OR RESCHEDULING
League start times follow actual time, not bar time. If the opposing team does not arrive within 30 minutes of the scheduled match start time, the match will be considered a forfeit unless the opposing team contacted the opposing team at least two hours prior to the match.
If your team cannot attend a scheduled match, both the opposing team’s captain and the league coordinator must be contacted by group message no later than two hours before the match start time. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit. A list of league captains and coordinators can be found at bargames1.com.
Please be considerate of other teams. If you or your teammates expect to arrive late, notify the opposing captain or team as soon as possible.
There is a two-week period to complete any rescheduled matches. If the match is from the final week of league play, it must be completed within six days so that final standings and payouts can be completed promptly. If the teams cannot agree on a makeup date, the match will be split, with the team requesting the reschedule receiving the fewer number of wins.
Matches are rarely canceled due to weather. However, if weather conditions are unsafe or if a location closes early due to weather, teams should contact the opposing captain to reschedule.
FORFEITS
If a team fails to arrive within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time, the opposing team may choose to wait, reschedule the match, or accept the forfeit.
The forfeiting team will be responsible for covering the league dues for both teams for that match. These dues will be deducted from their payouts at the end of the season. The forfeiting team will receive zero wins for that match, and the opposing team will receive all wins.
If a team misses a match without notifying the league coordinator and opposing team, or refuses to play a scheduled match, the team will receive a warning. If the situation occurs again, the team will be suspended for six months and will forfeit all prize money and statistics for that league season.
DROPPING OUT OF A LEAGUE
If a team drops out of the league, they will be removed from the schedule immediately. Any league fees already paid by that team will be added to the season-end payout and distributed among the remaining teams. All matches played by that team will be removed from the standings.
Any team or player that drops out of a league will receive a one-year ban from all Redline sanctioned leagues, both remote and in person.
SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS
If a player cannot attend a scheduled match, a substitute player must be used. A teammate may not throw darts under another player’s name. If this occurs, the entire team and the player who threw under the incorrect name will be suspended for six months and placed on one year of probation. A second offense will result in an indefinite ban from all Redline events.
If you are using a substitute not listed on your roster, you must contact the league coordinator with the player’s first and last name at least two hours before the match. The coordinator will add the player to your team. If the coordinator cannot be reached in time, you may still enter the player’s full name at the dart board.
Failure to use the substitute’s full name will result in their games being forfeited and their statistics removed from the league.
New player handicaps will be:
Men: 20 PPD / 2.0 MPR
Women: 18 PPD / 1.8 MPR
If a player knows their actual averages, those may be used. However, using incorrect averages will result in a match forfeit and a team warning.
Substitute players may play for multiple teams during the league season, but only for one team per night. Teams on a bye may provide only one substitute player per team needing a substitute.
Any team using a banned or suspended player as a substitute will forfeit all matches for that league night and will be placed on six months probation.
MATCH RULES
All Redline leagues qualify players for the IOMA State Tournament, NDA events, and the Midwest Dart Championships.
All leagues are payout leagues. At the end of the season, each team will receive prize money based on the number of wins and losses recorded. Payouts are calculated as 75% based on wins and 25% based on losses.
All leagues will use a 30‑second shot timer. Handicap leagues will use reverse handicap for all 01 games and spot marks for all cricket games.
If a team is missing a player at the start of the match, the match may still begin. For each turn belonging to the absent player, press the Player Change button. If the player arrives later, they may join when their turn comes up.
If a dart sticks in the board but registers incorrectly, notify the opposing team immediately and correct the score. If the dart falls out of the board for any reason, the score cannot be corrected. The dart must still be in the board to be adjusted.
In remote play, any misread dart will remain as registered. Please report any misreads to the league coordinator at the end of the league night or the following day, including the number and location of the misread.
If a player throws darts under the wrong player’s name, the darts may be removed and the turn corrected. If a player throws during the opposing team’s turn, the opposing team may either accept the score or have the darts removed and throw their own turn.
LEAGUE STANDINGS
Final standings will be determined by total wins. If teams are tied, the following tie-breakers will be used in order:
- Total games won
- Head-to-head games won
- Team PPD (substitutes not included)
If there is a tie for first place, a single playoff match will be played using the same format as the league. All league fees will apply. The home team will be determined by the tie-breaker rules.
LEAGUE COORDINATORS
League coordinators should be the first point of contact for any issues or disputes. They will take the appropriate steps to address the situation. League coordinators reserve the right to modify or update rules when necessary.
